A fast finite sample count symmetric component extraction method for use in grid side converters

The considerable increase in the number of renewable energy sources power systems recent years has led to grid side converters’ connection requirements being more and strict. In order comply with newly arising codes, synchronization unit provide a fast robust response even under unbalanced distorted line voltage. This paper proposes new method for very extraction symmetrical components. uses finite voltage samples solve set algebraic equations obtain sine cosine factors direct inverse sequence corresponding amplitudes angles are then found by using √ arctan functions. proposed algorithm requires derivative estimation technique estimate frequency from angle. performance sample count (FSC) is compared all-pass filter (APF) based synchronous reference frame phase-locked-loop (SRF PLL) simulations experimentally DSP platform emulator analog outputs. Under dip, FSC responds within several hundreds µs, whereas it takes around 3 ms APF SRF PLL settle.
